Call for offers: Film production on Feminist Unionism
The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung is one of the largest political education institutions in Germany today, with branches in many countries worldwide. The Brussels Office operates as a think tank reflecting on European and international issues such as the global power shift and the socio-ecological transformation of today’s society. Madrid office as liaison office is organizational affiliated to Brussels office.
Background
RLS Madrid office has been working on the topic of feminist unionism for several years and has become a recognized reference point among key stakeholders in Spain. Building on this experience, we are now seeking to develop audiovisual materials that make the topic more accessible and engaging for a broader public.
Trade union movements have played a fundamental role in advancing workers’ rights, social justice, and democratic participation. Feminist perspectives within unionism have further expanded these struggles by highlighting gender inequalities in the workplace, care economies, and labor organizing.
This call seeks to support the production of a short audiovisual piece exploring trade unionism through a feminist lens, contributing to public debate and the dissemination of democratic memory related to labor movements.
To this end, audiovisual professionals, filmmakers, and production companies are invited to submit proposals for the production of a short audiovisual piece (approximately 5 minutes) addressing these themes.
Objective of the call
The objective of this call is to commission the production of a short audiovisual piece (approximately 5 minutes) exploring trade unionism from a feminist perspective.
The work should:
- present a clear artistic and narrative approach to the topic
- explore historical or contemporary experiences of feminist trade union organizing
- contribute to public reflection on labor rights, gender equality, and democratic memory
The final output will be a standalone audiovisual piece communicating the creative vision and thematic focus proposed by the applicant.
Scope of the Assignment
The selected applicant will be responsible for producing:
- One audiovisual work
- Duration: 5 minutes maximum
- Format: audiovisual (documentary, fiction, or hybrid)
- Language: open
- Final delivery format: professional digital format suitable for online dissemination
The final product should demonstrate a coherent narrative structure, visual approach, and thematic engagement with the topic of feminist unionism.
The selected applicant will be responsible for the creative, technical, and production aspects necessary for the completion of the short film.
Eligibility
Applications are open to:
- audiovisual production companies
- independent filmmakers
- audiovisual collectives
- creative professionals with demonstrated experience in audiovisual production
Applicants must demonstrate their capacity to deliver the requested audiovisual piece within the proposed timeline and budget.
Required Documentation

- Concept Note (Maximum 10 pages)
The concept note should include:
- project concept
- narrative approach
- visual proposal
- thematic focus on unionism and feminism
- production overview
- Director’s Statement (Maximum 2 pages)
The statement should explain:
- creative vision
- narrative intention
- motivation for the project
- CV (Maximum 2 pages)
Professional CV highlighting:
- relevant audiovisual experience
- filmography
- previous productions
- Budget Proposal
Applicants must submit a financial quotation as requested in the application form (see ANNEX)
