Call for Tenders: Editorial Project – Book on Climate Change and Social-Ecological Transformation

The Madrid Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS) invites proposals for the development of an editorial project for a book addressing the political conflicts associated with climate change and the processes of social and economic transformation linked to the ecological transition.

The proposed publication should analyse the main political conflicts emerging from the climate crisis, identify the distributional impacts of socio-ecological transformation, and examine who benefits and who bears the costs of these processes. The book should also contribute to the debate on pathways and political strategies for advancing a socially just ecological transition.

Through this project, RLS Madrid seeks to contribute to critical debate and knowledge production on climate justice and socio-ecological transformation.

  1. Scope of Work

The selected contractor will be responsible for the conceptualization, coordination and development of a book manuscript addressing the political, social and economic dimensions of the climate crisis and the ecological transition.

The publication should:

  • Analyse the main political conflicts arising from the climate crisis.
  • Examine the distributional effects of socio-ecological transformation, identifying potential winners and losers.
  • Contribute to debates on public policy and political strategies for a just ecological transition.
  • Promote plural perspectives and critical debate on climate justice.
  1. Submission Requirements

Applicants must submit a proposal including the following elements:

2.1 Concept Note

A concept note (maximum 500 words) outlining the central idea of the publication, its analytical approach, and its relevance to current debates on climate change and socio-ecological transformation.

2.3 Project Description

A short description including:

2.4 Collaboration with a Publishing House

The editorial capacity of the RLS Madrid office to edit and distribute its own publications is limited. If such collaboration is proposed, the following information must be provided:

  • Name of the publishing house
  • Total number of copies to be printed
  • Number of copies to be delivered to RLS
  • Distribution and dissemination strategy
  • Terms of collaboration

All collaboration arrangements must comply with the RLS co-edition agreement guidelines.

2.5 Collective Authorship

RLS encourages collective authorship, as it contributes to broader dissemination, enhances the legitimacy of the publication and promotes diverse perspectives and debate.

Proposals that include contributions from recognized external authors will be positively assessed.

Applicants must provide:

  • The list of participating authors
  • A brief description of their relevant expertise
  • Their expected contribution to the publication
  1. Budget Proposal

Applicants must submit a financial quotation with a detailed breakdown of costs, including:

  • Honorarium for main authorship
  • Honorarium for project coordination

  1. Evaluation Criteria

 6.1 Financial Evaluation (60 points)

The financial evaluation will consider both the overall price and quantifiable elements that contribute to the dissemination and collective dimension of the publication.
