Job Listing – Project Manager (full-time)

The Madrid Office of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is seeking to hire a Project Manager (PM) to start on 18th May 2026 or as soon as possible afterwards. This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week). The place of work is Madrid. The position cannot be performed remotely.

About Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung

The Rosa Luxemburg Foundation is one of the six major political foundations in the Federal Republic of Germany, tasked primarily with conducting political education both in Germany and through its 26 offices worldwide. The foundation is closely linked to Die Linke, a democratic socialist party represented in the German Bundestag. It stands in the tradition of the socialist workers’ movement, as well as anti-fascism, anti-racism, feminism, environmentalism, and internationalism. The foundation promotes critical analysis of society and fosters networks of emancipatory political, social, and cultural initiatives, advocating for a dialogue between the Global North and South conducted on equal footing.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating projects from a progressive, left-oriented perspective across a diverse range of topics. This includes supporting partner activities within the targeted regions at the global, European, and Spanish levels. A key aspect of the role will be monitoring political developments within the office program’s region and fostering engagement with left-leaning stakeholders to strengthen partner relations. Additionally, the position involves the strategic planning, execution, and documentation of projects related to political education.

The tasks include:

  • Preparation of content and organization, implementation and evaluation of events and educational trips, including budgetary oversight;

  • Conception and implementation of multilingual publication projects;

  • Cooperation with institutions, non-governmental and other partners organizations; as well as political parties;

  • Independent project management including documentation, materials for public relations and budgetary oversight;

  • Handling awarding procedures as well as negotiating and concluding funding agreements;

  • Research as well as supervision of analyses and texts on local and regional issues;

  • Representation of RLS in different networking formats;

Necessary Qualifications

You demonstrate a high level of commitment and willingness to learn new skills. You enjoy working in an international environment, communicating with members of parliament, academics, civil society organizations and activists from around the world. Required qualifications and skills include:

  • A post-secondary degree in the humanities or social sciences, comparable qualification or equivalent professional experience;

  • Identification with the values and mission of the RLS;

  • Familiarity with the political Left (parties, social movements, etc.) and with current left-oriented debates relevant to the office’s focus areas, particularly in alternative economics, feminism, socio-ecological transition, municipalism, organizing and unionism;

  • Professional experience with project management in non-profit, social movement, party and/or government/institutional contexts, particularly focused in the project management area, i.e. application of the funder guidelines, strong skills in budgeting, program planning, implementation and evaluation, and autonomous management of workflows related with funder guidelines regarding project justification (invoicing, tenders, contracts, procurements, external service providers, audits etc.)

  • Experience in political education work, writing policy papers and/or articles and the ability to familiarize oneself quickly with new issues;

  • Sound knowledge of the functioning of the EU, Spain and Latin America, its actors and current policy debates is highly desirable;

  • Excellent command of English is a requirement; As English is the official working language and used daily, candidates must be able to speak, understand, read, and write it proficiently

  • Good knowledge of German, Basque, Catalan and Galician, as well as other languages is an advantage;

  • Strong communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a team;

  • A high level of familiarity with the common office software and a willingness to familiarize oneself with new applications;

  • Availability and willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends and non-labour days;

  • Experience in organizing events is desirable.

During week of 6th April, only successful applicants will be informed about an invitation to a personal interview. In person interviews will take place in Madrid on 20th and 21st April 2026. There will be no interviews in different dates. Should you need to travel to Madrid, RLS will cover your travel and accommodation expenses.
